CLASSIC WIRE WRAPPED BRACELETS

This class will teach you all of the fundamental skills of wire wrapping. 

We'll discuss tools and the proper way to use them, wire tempers, gauges, and techniques for hardening, oxidizing, and polishing your new treasure.

Combinations of color and texture are used to make dozens of variations of this classic wire-wrapped bracelet.

Twist some wire or leave it all smooth and sleek. Delicate and dainty, or bold and dramatic. Your choice, your design!  Wear it uptown or downtown! 

We'll use faux wire.

 

WIRE-WRAPPED PENDANTS

Do you have a pretty stone, rock, or cabochon that you want to make into a pendant?  But you can't because...well... there are no holes! 

Learn the skills to make beautiful wire-wrapped pendants using a few hand tools, jewelry wire, and a focal bead or gemstone.  

We will discuss wire gauges and wire tempers. Learn about tools and their proper use, as well as techniques for oxidizing and polishing your new treasure.

Use your new skills to create sentimental pendants from your memories. Shells or pebbles from a walk on the beach, stones found in the desert or forest, a bead or stone from your grandmother’s jewelry, etc.

We'll use faux wire.

 

EMBRACE RING

An embrace of metals symbolizes love, friendship, and life journeys.

Mixed metals in strands of sterling silver and 14K gold-filled are wrapped into an embrace.

 

 

 

 

WIRE-WRAPPED PEARL COLLAR

This class covers the fundamental skills for creating a basic wire-wrapped collar or bracelet, but we take it a step further by hand sculpting the wire to create soft curves that surround Freshwater Pearls.

We'll use faux wire.

 

 

 

   

BUTTERFLY WIRE-WRAPPED BRACELET

Each of us transforms through multiple stages in our lives. The Butterfly is a universal symbol of change, celebrating love, resurrection, rebirth, survival, and transformation.

This class covers the fundamental skills for creating a basic wire-wrapped bracelet, but we take it a step further by hand sculpting the wire to create soft butterfly wing shapes, then embellishing it with strategically placed beads to form this sweet, fluttering butterfly bracelet.

There are endless variations of this design by mixing smooth or twisted wire and mixing metals.

We'll use faux wire. 

 

BEGINNER SOLDERING & GEMSTONE SETTING WORKSHOP

What the heck is flux?!  Pickle?! And heaven forbid - fire scale?!

Learn simple, basic soldering skills to create a whole arm full of stacked gemstone cuffs. Learn the language, tools, and tips for silversmithing, using a small torch and basic tools.

DRESS FOR A MESS! Wear old clothes or bring an old shirt to wear over your work clothes. If you have long hair, please wear it up!

TECHNIQUES: simple soldering, gemstone setting, wire-wrapping accents, filing, oxidizing, polishing, and finishing

SKILL LEVEL:  Suitable for beginners, even if you’ve never soldered before.

We keep this class simple and use simple tools you can get from the hardware store for minimal cost.

 

POLYMER CLAY NECKLACE & BEADS

Imagine designing jewelry with unique, one of kind beads you make yourself.

Polymer Clay is easy, very inexpensive, and can be bought at your local craft or art stores and fired in a small toaster oven. No kiln or special tools are required, so the cost is minimal.

Learn several beads designs such as flowers, leaves, and shells.

This is a techniques class, so rather than perfecting, we will focus on learning as much as possible!  Techniques include making molds, color blending, the skinner blend, stamping, inks, pigment powders & mokume gane’.

 

  

GOTHIC-INSPIRED NECKLACE, SIMPLE SOLDERING

Let’s go dark & spooky, lol. Create a Gothic-inspired sterling pendant on a 20-inch sterling chain.

Learn sweat soldering by soldering several pieces at once.  

You’ll have a creative license in this class, as we’ll provide gemstones, spiders & snakes, skulls, moons, bugs, and more! 

We’ll use small torches you can get from the hardware store, so you can easily set up a place to do this at home!

ATHENA WIRE WRAPPED GEMSTONE SUITE {all-day workshop}

This class covers the fundamental skills for creating a wire-wrapped bracelet & collar, but we take it a step further by hand incorporating gemstones into the structures. So now there are endless variations by mixing metals, smooth or twisted wire, gemstones, and chains. Make yours delicate or bold!

We’ll explore asymmetrical & symmetrical designs, choker vs, decollete’ styles, and handcrafted clasps for a nice artisan flair.

You’ll have a large selection of gemstones to choose from. We’ll complete a collar, a bracelet, and matching earrings with handcrafted earwires.

We'll use faux wire, but you can upgrade to sterling silver, yellow, or rose gold-filled if you'd like.

 

ARTISAN LINKS & WW CABOCHON PENDANT

This beauty will get attention! Natural gemstones will be wrapped and embellished with wire to make each gemstone stand out. Then we’ll create unique links to connect them together, giving you a truly high-end design! And all of these links can be used in future designs,

Next, we’ll take a big, dramatic gemstone cabochon and create a wire-wrapped setting. You can then add the pendant to the necklace, or wear it on a chain.

We'll use faux wire, but you can upgrade to sterling silver, yellow, or rose gold-filled if you'd like.

Your design will differ from the photo because you get to choose from your own gemstones, freshwater pearls, and other goodies. {Depending on availability}

HOLDING CLASSES AT YOUR LOCATION

I WILL PROVIDE all materials and tools needed for the classes.

 

MINIMUM for CLASSES: at least four paying students per individual class, a total of eight for an all-day Saturday session, or twelve to conduct classes on both Saturday and Sunday. 

WE WILL CONFIRM / CANCEL {ANY or ALL CLASSES} 7 days before the class dates. Once we confirm the total number of students in a class {or total for all classes}, this confirms and guarantees this payment to me. {I will depend on this and cannot accept cancellations after we confirm attendance numbers, due to the cost of materials and travel expenses.}

I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO CANCEL ANY CLASS THAT DOES NOT MEET THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS {Either per class, per day or weekend}

THE MAXIMUM PER CLASS IS 10 ppl unless specified or I'm contacted. {I have to be sure that I have tools and materials available and can easily teach that many students}.

I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO INVITE 1-2 FREE STUDENTS AT MY DISCRETION {These are not included in the minimum and are simply guest students}.

YOU are always invited to take any class FREE! Please let me know in advance so that I bring sufficient materials and tools}.

I WILL PROVIDE class descriptions, photos, graphics, printed fliers, an artist photo and bio, and business cards to you. 

MATERIALS: Most class projects will be made with FAUX WIRE. If appropriate, I will have precious metal choices available if the students want to upgrade {Prices will vary according to precious metal prices}
